A talk with Ariana Dongus and Clemens von Wedemeyer as well as Jan Distelmeyer, Alexander Repp, Zsolt Sőrés and Anne Clark.
Artistic concerns centre on representability. But how do we deal with it when the object of observation eludes its representation, when it is distributed behind walls of new architecture, smart fences and fragmented work in home offices ? How can a critique of digitality be conceived in terms of immaterial networks and what models can be used to visualise, name and reconfigure them?
At the end of the exhibition Social Geometry (Apr 26 - Jun 29, 2024), Galerie KOW invites you to a discussion and conversation about the works on display and the themes derived from them. Ariana Dongus focuses on the social aspects of AI, the exploitation of digital labor and invisible infrastructures. She is currently a Research Fellow at the TU Dresden, where she is researching new forms of labor in relation to machine 'intelligence'. Alexander Repp's artistic work deals with the representation and investigation of social networks. Jan Distelmeyer researches and teaches at the Centre for European Media Studies (University of Potsdam and Potsdam University of Applied Sciences), his publication Kritik der Digitalität was published in 2021. Zsolt Sőrés is a Hungarian artist and improvising musician who created the soundtrack of surface / composition. Anne Clark is a British musician and poet and is considered a pioneer of electronic music and new wave. She will meet us online.
